An Easel, I bought an Avanti Master Studio Easel from ArtSupply.com the cheapest you can get.

This is the stable and the best you can get for a long term art career.

Four Condensed Charcoal Pencil, eraser and sharpener, Charcoal pencil gives the best idea of shades

Newsprint Paper Pad 14" x 17"

Why ? because They are the lowest quality and so Cheap perfect for lot of rough work.

Okay, so one more of my Nancy Favorite. Is there anyone out there looking for nancy ? I am planning to create all of my favorite nancy comics.

Gag in two words !

This is my version of nancy, far from the perfectionist Ernie Bushmiller's, but I get some kind of gratification to be just able to draw it :) If I have to define nancy comics in one word it will be surreal

So I came across this book, and I was able to make my own Vista Gadget in no time. Woo hoo !

If there is one comicstrip I love then it is Nancy by Ernie Bushmiller, If you don't know bushmiller you better look for him.

Here is an excerpt from the web about Bushmiller

"Most of the punch lines in Nancy are visual, so the pictures need to be clearly readable to get the gag across. "I leave out all extraneous detail that may catch the eye and detract from the main point", Bushmiller explained. He went on to describe his unique philosophy of graphic layout: "I try to get some black into the object I am stressing if it is at all feasible. In a visual gag strip, clarity is more important than an artistic effect. I think variety in the panels helps the appearance of a strip. Long shots, close-ups and medium shots attract the eye and are useful in putting your idea across.

Composition is extremely important. By composition, I mean intelligent placing of your objects and characters so as to make it as easy as possible for your reader to get what you 're driving at."

Elar Alexander

Elar Alexander majored in fine arts and studied at Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art (PSCA), in Brittany, France . He began developing his distinct sophisticated style of illustration in the late 90's. After working as an art student and creative writer for few years at numerous agencies, he decided to pursue an illustration career full time.

Self-portrait

In 2002, Elar was involved in two of the most successful illustration campaigns in the history of advertising: Amul Tutter and Hu/mt/um. In 2006 Hoprodigy was launched at J. Walter Thompson. Elar created all of the illustrations for this extensive national print campaign. Elar also created two greeting card lines, a television pilot, and contributed to over 100 different magazines worldwide. Presently, Elar is working on two projects Book titled "Dream Sequence" & "Bob Betty" cartoons.
